Lakhaniya Dari Waterfall is a hidden beauty in Southern Uttar Pradesh. It is in Mirzapur district near Ahraura. If you want to enjoy a short adventurous trek then this place is worth visiting. It is a picnic spot for families and a small adventure for trekkers. Generally people do small gathering, cooking, fooding etc at Lakhania Dari.
Lakhaniya looks more beautiful and magnificent during monsoon. Fall stays true to the town in which it is situated and serves the people through its best nature. Waters of this fall are stored in the Ahraura Dam which is used for irrigation purpose to surrounding village farms and fields.
Route : Varanasi–>Ramnagar–>Narayanpur–>Adalhat–>Ahraura–>Lakhaniya – 50 kms (2 hours)
Best Time : Monsoon (If you want full flow of waterfall)
*No trains or hotels at Lakhaniya *Use your own vehicle or book it.
Below is my trek journey……….
I am a Varanasi local therefore visited this place many times. It takes around 2 hours to reach this place. Moment you reach this place you will see this beauty from the roadside itself.
This is the first part where you will surely halt. You can step down in the ‘flow’ and can enjoy. Rocks are little slippery, so be careful while stepping down.
A milky flow. Do not underestimate the flowing water. Just sit there and enjoy it.
Water seems like chrome colour but it is clean to enjoy. Here people try swimming also.
Just sit and enjoy.
After halting at the first place for some time, I started my trek to main waterfall. Main waterfall is around 2 kms trek from the entry gate. You need to cross huge rocks, water flows, jungles etc. It takes around one and half hours to reach there.
Yes, you need to cross this too. There is no alternative track.
After streams, its jungle trek now.
After crossing small jungle trek, now back to stream again.
You need to step on these rocks to cross this stream. Be careful while stepping on these rocks, monsoon makes it slippery. Crossing these need a lot of energy, therefore keep some packed food items and water bottles. This trek will surely make you hungry.
Adventure Rocks or is it a Rock Adventure??
When journey is around half km left, you will start getting a buzz sound of the flowing waterfall. The first view will surely boost you to reach there as soon as possible.
It seems closer but actually it took around 30 mins to reach there from this point. There is no proper track for this destination. You need to jump on rocks, wade streams and cross bushes.
See the water flow mark on the rocks. These cuts are created by different water levels. During heavy rain in monsoon officials ban this place.
We are almost there.
Though, we were at 100 meters away, still water droplets made us wet. Now you can imagine the force of this fall.
Localities in action.
Finally, we reached there. Find me in this pic 🙂 , then realise the flow and the height of this fall. It was very thrilling moment to stand there. I found myself fully wet. You can see the water droplets flowing in the air, looking like fog in the winters.
Flow was creating a strong buzz sound. Height of this fall is around 150 meters.
I tried capturing the other fall through the first one. I had to wait around 20 mins to get this moment.
Front view of Lakhaniya Dari Waterfall. Wallpaper Beauty !!
I shot both the falls separately and that too looks good.
We spent 3-4 hours enjoying here then started our back journey.
Back to main land.
It is a lonely place and very less people do trekking for the main waterfall, prefer going in groups only. I will not recommend couples to go alone. Try to cover this place in day time only. Trekking in evening may pull in you trouble because it need at least 5-6 hours to cover this place and by that time you will be in dark. Be with your family and friends. Enjoy it !!
